Let’s get started!
Before we start talking about our mind and body, let’s ask ourselves What is health? Well, according to the dictionary, health is a relative state in which one is able to function well physically, mentally and spiritually in order to express the range of potentialities with the environment.
Sadhguru explains that if you, for example, exercise your hand 10.000 times a day, every day for a year, it will work wonderfully well. He says that the same happens with your brain, heart and energies! If all those things work well and are in balance: it means that you are healthy; which is not a concept that the medical field invented. Health is life working well and in balance!
Now, you may be asking yourself: Why having a healthy mind is important?
According to Dalai Lama, the mental state is very important, he explains it with an example: if we are in physical pain but we have a calm mind and we are in peace, that physical pain can be subdue. But, on the other hand, if our mind is full of stress and worries, our physical comfort will not be subdued. A healthy state of mind is not something that you can buy on a drugstore o a supermarket, a healthy mind must be developed within the mind. And as Dalai Lama says: it came with conviction, and conviction only come through research and investigation.
Now a days, we are so used that material thing make us happy and that we can’t live without them, but that’s such a poor thought! Material things are useful off course and they make our life so much easier, but those material things will never give us inner peace. Why? Because material values, such as a nice work, receiving a good amount of money every month, a nice house, a expensive car, etcetera; but with those things also come jealously, stress, worries and anxiety which affects in such a bad way our inner piece and our healthy mind
So, it’s all a state of balance: HEALTHY MIND = HEALTHY BODY = HEALTHY LIFE
If you’re mind is calm and in peace, then when bad times come around, you’ll be able to confront it with a strong state. Dalai Lama explains it as the immunity system that our body has, if a virus attack, but we have strong immunity system the disturb and harm it causes will be manageable. But, instead, if our immunity system is weak, the virus will totally take control of our body and it would cause serious damage on us.
Ok, now that we know that been healthy is important, the next question is:
How we can have a healthy mind?
Here are some tips that help you to develop a healthier mind:
Don´t you guys hate when a person is negative all the time? That even been around them makes you feel sad and it makes you have negative thoughts! That is so unhealthy for us guys, if you know someone that´s like that you have 2 options: either you help them to stop been like that or you get the hell out of their lives.
Having a positive attitude is so essential if you want to have a healthy mind! It is related with our wellbeing, which is a different concept to all of us, and it depends on our conceptions and believes. It may be consider as having feeling good, having a purpose or functioning well, etcetera…but it’s always related to our greatest good.
I know that we can’t be happy all the time, I’m not saying that, because being sad is important too, you should let your body feels what it wants to feel. What I mean, is that on difficult and stressful situations you have to try to go through them with a positive attitude, and not let the situation get worst by confront it the wrong way!

Guys, I don’t have to tell you how important our loved ones are for us right? Being around people we love and trust, don’t just makes us happy but it helps our mind to stay healthy! Why? Have an active mind and training your brain are such amazing tips for a healthy mind! How you can do that? Well, you can learn another language, learn how to play an instrument, read a book, learn a new sport, play games that are special for training your brain, etcetera…the main goal is to keep feeding your brain with positive information so it stays active!
Besides from helping our body to stay healthy, it also helps our mind! When you do any exercise, your brain is constantly working by helping you staying concentrate and focus on what you are doing. Also, it helps you get a better sleep, and a good rest, which are clue in order to have a healthy mind!
Accept and embrace yourself
This tip is given by Dali Lama, he says that in order to be happy and have a healthy mind, you must have compassion for you first, in order to showing it to someone else. He claims that accepting our own flaws first and learning from them help us to be in peace and in calm with our mind. This self compassion is different from self pity, this last one because of the point of view you give it: such as being in pain for a harsh self criticism. But, with self compassion you are learning from your mistakes and from who you are as a person!
